About Mint Souq

The new souq.

A regional marketplace built on three things money can't fake: identity, escrow, and trust.

Mint Souq is the Middle East's first AI-native classifieds marketplace, designed for buyers and sellers across the entire region — from the GCC to the Levant and North Africa. We help people find homes, cars, jobs, electronics, and everything in between, in 15 countries and 137 cities.

Every search on Mint Souq is a conversation, not a form. Every listing carries verification signals you can actually rely on. And when money moves, it moves through a regulated escrow account — not a stranger's bank transfer.

Operating company

Mint Souq is owned and operated by Mint Capital Investment LLC, an investment firm registered in Dubai (DED). Mint Capital was founded to bring the rigour of regulated finance to consumer marketplaces in the region — making transactions safer for everyone who participates.

Because we operate as a licensed financial entity, we apply the same anti-fraud, anti-money-laundering, and identity-verification standards used by banks and brokerages. Mint Souq isn't just a listing site. It's a marketplace under financial-firm governance.

Mint Souq Escrow

For high-value transactions — vehicles, property deposits, electronics over AED 1,000 — buyers and sellers can route the payment through Mint Souq Escrow. The buyer transfers the funds to a Mint Capital escrow account; the seller ships or hands over the item; once the buyer confirms receipt, we release the funds. If something goes wrong, neither party loses control of the money.

Pricing

Flat 5% escrow fee

One transparent fee. No hidden charges, no payout delays, no per-tier pricing. The fee is deducted from the seller's payout. Buyers pay nothing extra.

The escrow account itself is held by Mint Capital Investment LLC — a regulated investment firm, not a payment processor on the side. Funds are segregated from operating capital and held in a dedicated client account. This is the same structure brokerages use for client funds.

Identity verification & document storage

To keep the marketplace safe, we ask sellers to verify their identity in three layers: email, phone, and a government-issued ID document. The ID layer is optional for casual posting but required to:

  • Receive escrow payouts above AED 10,000
  • List vehicles, property, or any item priced above the high-value threshold
  • Earn the gold "ID verified" badge on your listings

Accepted documents include the Emirates ID, KSA National ID, KSA Iqama, GCC Civil IDs, passports, and driving licences from any country in the region. Submissions go to a private review queue that only Mint Souq's verification team can access.

How we store ID documents — and why

Government ID images and selfies submitted during verification are retained on our system in encrypted storage, not deleted after approval. We do this for one reason: fraud investigation.

If a buyer or seller is later defrauded, scammed, or otherwise harmed by another user — and the matter becomes a police case or a financial dispute — the original verification documents are evidence. Without them, fraudsters disappear; with them, victims have a path to recover funds and law enforcement has a paper trail.

What this means for you in practical terms:

  • Your documents are never displayed publicly on the platform — no buyer, no seller, no other user ever sees them.
  • Documents are only accessed by Mint Souq's verification team and senior compliance staff at Mint Capital Investment LLC.
  • We may share documents with UAE law enforcement, the Dubai Police's e-Crimes unit, the Central Bank's Consumer Protection Department, or equivalent authorities in your country, if and only if we receive a lawful request connected to a fraud or financial-crime investigation.
  • You can request deletion of your documents at any time by emailing trust@mintsouq.com. We'll honour the request unless an active fraud case requires retention.

This trade-off — holding identity records in case of fraud, against the convenience of "delete after check" — is deliberate. It's why Mint Souq is safer than free-for-all classifieds sites.

What we believe

Three principles drive the entire product:

Conversation, not search

People don't think in filters. They think in sentences. "BMW X5 in Dubai under 200k, 2020 or newer" should just work. So we built it that way.

Verification, not vibes

Marketplaces fail because trust is performative. A blue tick that anyone can buy is worse than no tick at all. Our verification badges are earned and tied to real identity documents.

Escrow, not "ship first"

The Middle East has world-class banks but a fragmented payments landscape for peer-to-peer commerce. Mint Souq Escrow lets two strangers transact with the same confidence as two long-time partners.
